Shanghai women's volleyball coach fired
A male coach of the Shanghai women's volleyball team has been fired for sexual harassment, the city's sports authorities said.
The Shanghai Administration of Sports launched an investigation after two players of the city's women volleyball team alleged that a coach had made "inappropriate" comments and behaviour on the massage table last Saturday, reports Xinhua.
"He has been fired from his coaching post as his behaviour tarnished the image of Shanghai and sports," the Shanghai Administration of Sports said in a statement Friday.
The coach, who was not named, admitted to drinking too much that night and has expressed "deep regrets" about his wrongdoing, added the statement.
The Shanghai women's volleyball team, the runner-up in the Chinese league last season, lost to Tianjin Tuesday. Local media blamed their poor performance on the scandal.
