Mulayam Singh Yadav releases Samajwadi Party's candidates list for 2014 polls
The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Friday released its list of candidates for the 2014 general elections.
The release of the list is being read as party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's signal to prepare for an early poll, and is also a caution to the Congress-led UPA that the Samajwadi Party's support in Parliament can't be taken for granted.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was quoted by NDTV, as saying that the candidates have been announced early to improve preparedness.
"A majority of the assembly election candidates (held earlier this year) were also announced a year before the polls," he revealed.
The UPA Government is currently surviving with the outside support of the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party.
The Samajwadi Party's list of 55 for 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh includes Mulayam Yadav and his daughter-in-law Dimple, who will defend her Kannauj seat which she won after her husband Akhilesh vacated it to become the chief minister of the state in March this year.
Several sitting MPs have been named on the list, as well as members of the extended Yadav family.
