A delegation of office-bearers of Press Club of Kolhapur (PCK) today met Deputy Superintendent of Police Sham Tarwadkar and demanded action against the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) workers, who had prevented coverage of their agitation demanding higher prices for sugarcane and release of their detained leader Raju Shetty.
The delegation, led by Anuradha Bhosale, president of PCK, submitted a memorandum of their demands to DySP who assured of proper action against the agitators.
The Press Club's demands include action against the agitators for having prevented the media persons from reporting about the statewide 'rasta roko' at Shiroli on the Pune-Bangalore National Highway on November 12, and, stopping a van of press reporters yesterday at Mazgaon while on their way to cover a function at minister Hassan Mushrif's sugar mill.
Some of the SSS workers had allegedly misbehaved with press photographers, news channel cameramen and reporters.
The members of the delegation included Shradha Jogalkar, Shumbhagi Tawade, Sambhaji Bhosale, Sameer Mulla and Sampat Narke.
