Sriram Panda to receive prestigious 'Jayadev Award'
Sriram Panda, the yester years Odiya film hero and heart throb of lakhs of Odiyas has been chosen for the prestigius Jaydev award, the highest coveted award for his lifetime achievement and rich contribution to Odiya film for 2011, state Minister for Tourism and Culture Maheswar Mohanty announced here today.
Instituited by state department of Culture to promote Odiya films, the award carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh.and a citation.
Mr Mohanty also announced awards for 27 categories instituted to encourage the production of Odiya flims of aesthetic excellence andsocial relevance.
The Minister said a seven-member committee constituted under the Chairmanship of Dr Amiya Kumar Patnaik, the vice -chancellor of Utkal University of culture, also chose " Eka Eka" as the best film of 2011.
The "Mohan Sundar Deb Goswami Samman" would be conferrred on Eka Eka for being choosen as the best odia film. The award carries a cash prize of Rs50,000.
Prashant Nanda will receive a cash prize of Rs 20,000 as the best Director (Thukul).The film 'Eka Eka' also topped the award list bagging five awards-- best picture, best actor (Sidhant Mohpatra) best child artiste (Aneswa Mohapatra), best sound recordist (Namita Naik) and best screen play (Subash Das).
"Thukul" also secured five awards -- best director (Prashant Nanda), best photography (Abhiram Mishra)best story (Prashant Nanda) best side actor (Mina Ketaan) and best constume (KhirodPanda).
Archita Sahu bagged the best actress award for her role in 'Chocolate'.
