P Chidambaram asks Tamil Nadu police to release detained photographer

Stating that he was surprised and disappointed to learn that a person who reportedly attempted to take pictures of him was detained by Tamil Nadu police, Finance Minister P Chidambaram today requested the state police to release the detained person immediately.
The Finance Minister in a statement said he was unaware about the incident that happened yesterday at Chennai and came to know of it through media reports. He had told an agency that he had no knowledge of the incident and was not informed about it.
He said he didn't know why the TN police had detained the person.
'I have asked my office to get in touch with the Tamil Nadu Police and request them to release the person immediately,' Mr Chidambaram said.
