Puducherry Principal District and Sessions Judge C S Murugan today posted the Sankararaman murder case in which the Kanchi Acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi are the prime accused, to November 22 at the request of Special Public Prosecutor Devadoss, who sought time for filing a petition to recall certain witnesses under section 311 of Cr PC.
The SPP was expected to file the petition with the concurrence of the CB-CID, which investigated the murder case.
Padma, the slain Sankararaman's wife has filed two petitions and subsequently withdrew them citing health reasons. The judge had dismissed the petitions following this, However the SPP wanted Padma, son Ananda Sharma, daughter Uma Maitreyi and son-in-law Kannan to appear before the court and withdraw the petitions.
In one of the petitions, there were allegaions against the SPP. The public prosecutor wanted clarifications from Padma and others regarding the allegations against him.
Nine of the 24 accused were present today. The defence counsels had completed the arguments of the remaining on November 5.
