Police attack Maoist camp at Basana,recover explosives

A joint operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Special Operation Group(SOG) of Odisha Police today destroyed a Maoist camp at Basana, about 16 kms from Naraynpatna police station in Koraput district.

Police said on hearing the intelligence report that about 25 armed Maoists belonging to the Andhra Pradesh Odisa Zonal Committee of the CPI( Maoist) were holding a camp at Basana, the joint force launched a combing operation this morning.

However, the red rebels fled from the scene before the force reached the camp. The security personnel, recovered nearly 130 kg of explosive, naxal uniforms, ladies garment and naxal litarature from the camp.

Sources said the Left Wing extremists led by Andhra Pradesh- Odisha Zonal Committe of the CPI( Maoist) Secretary Daya were camping at the Basna.

An intensive combing operation has been launched in the area to arrest the Maoists.
