The ruling CPI(M) in Tripura has sought action against Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Sudip Roy Barman for his alleged threat during a public rally here on November 9 that the Left Front would not be allowed to form government in the state, a release said today.
CPI(M) state secretary Bijan Dhar lodged complaint on Wednesday with Election Commission (EC) and stated that Mr Roy Barman had threatened, "Under no circumstances would the Left Front be allowed to form the government for the seventh term and to prevent the Leftists, Congress would take all measures that are required.' The Chief Electoral Officer Ashutosh Jindal, however, stated that Mr Dhar had submitted a video recording and newspaper clippings of Barman's speech to the commission in support of his claim.
Terming the statement of Pradesh Congress president as 'total disrespect towards electoral system, the CPI (M) leader has alleged that Congress has got a legacy of manipulating in the election process to earn undue benefits in the ballot box.
