'Congress-led State Governments have not been functioning properly', says Punj
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Balbir Punj on Thursday alleged that the Congress-led Governments in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana or Kerala have not been functioning properly to the satisfaction of the people or even to the certain honest values of the ruling party at the Centre.
"The Congress Government in Andhra Pradesh or Haryana or Kerala, they have not been functioning neither to the satisfaction of the people there nor even to what you can consider that part of the Congress which is still honest and which has certain values," said Punj, while reacting to Defence Minister A.K. Antony's remarks critical of the ruling Congress-led UDF that a conducive atmosphere was needed in Kerala to get more defence-related units.
"So, we are not at all surprised that Antony is not happy with the performance of the Congress Government in Kerala and has expressed his reservations," he added.
Antony, who was speaking in Thiruvananthapuram, praised the previous LDF regime for its 'total cooperation' to him in this sphere.
"When the UPA has been in power at the Centre and the state was under the LDF rule, I had received total cooperation from the state government in my efforts to set up defence-related units," said Antony.
"Now I don't have confidence to bring in such units to the state. For getting such units, a positive atmosphere is required," he added after inaugurating missile integration complex of BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd (BATL).
The Defence Minister made these remarks in the presence of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Kerala Industries Minister PK Kunhalikutty.
