The 30 scrip Index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today slipped by 141.98 points at 18,476.89 on profit booking by local operators alongwith weak global cues.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) declined by 41 points to 5,625.95.
The Sensex recorded the intraday high and low of 18,593.54 and 18,439.06 respectively.
The Nifty recorded intraday high and low of 5651.65 and 5615.40 respectively.
Barring Consumer Durable abd Realty, all other sectoral indices opened in red.
Sun Pharma, Infosys, Tata Steel, TCS, Tata Motors, Wipro, Mahindra and Mahindra drifted lower while Bharti Airtel, Gail India, HDFC and L and T improved, which capped it from further losses, brokers aid.
The losers were Sun Pharma by 2.57 pc to Rs 671.60, Infosys by 2.47 pc to Rs 2281.25, Tata Steel by 2.10 pc to Rs 377.90, TCS by 1.96 pc to Rs 199.10 and Wipro by 1.61 pc to Rs 363.50.
The gainers were Bharti Airtel by 2.78 pc to Rs 290.50, Gail India by 2.12 pc to Rs 359 and HDFC by 0.92 pc to Rs 789.00.
