Bal Thackeray: Mumbai cops' leaves cancelled
The leaves of all policemen in the city were cancelled on Thursday as security was tightened outside ailing Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's house, said reports.
Rapid Action Force personnel have been deployed outside Matoshree, Thackeray's house in Bandra.
BJP leader Gopinath Munde visited the 86-year-old leader on Thursday morning.
The ailing Thackeray continues to be critical and some reports, quoting doctors, say he is on life support.
The road to Matoshree has been barricaded.
At 2am on Thursday, the 86-year-old's son, Uddhav, came out and said: "I have not lost hope. You too must not lose hope. All efforts are on. Please pray and maintain calm."
Actor Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek came to see Thackeray late on Wednesday night. Sanjay Dutt and his wife Manyata also came.
Earlier on Tuesday, dismissing reports of his serious health situation, Thackeray said urged people to 'throw out' Congress governments both from the Centre and the state of Maharashtra.
"Throw out Congress and drive away the darkness forever," Thackeray said in a statement published in Sena mouthpiece 'Saamna'.
Thackeray made the comments a day after he dismissed reports that he was on ventilator support and said he has not collapsed completely.
He said his son and executive president of Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray was looking after him while his nephew and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray "keeps coming regularly".
