Seven pilgrims, including women, were attacked by the staff of a dormitory at Parassinikadavu temple today following an altercation.
Four of them were admitted to Pariayaram Medical College (PMC) hospital here. according to Thaliparamba police.
Police said 23-pilgrims, including women and children came to the temple at 0330 hrs in the morning in a tourist bus. As all the rooms in other lodges were full and they approached the dormitory of ' Sree Muthappan lodge'. They sought accommodation in the dormitory for a rent of Rs 2000.
But the staff wanted to allow only 17 members.
The pilgrims said they would not stay in the rooms but only wanted to freshen up before offering worship around 0800 hrs.
This lead to the altercation between the pilgrims group and dormitary staff. The staff called up one Prakashan over phone and asked him to reach the lodge with some more persons.
The gang, who rushed to the lodge attacked the pilgrims with sticks.
Thaliparamba police rushed to the spot and restored order.
