'Third alternative' in Chhattisgarh: CPI executive member
Lauding the efforts of Chhattisgarh Swabhiman Manch founder President Tarachand Sahu towards constituting a third alternative in the state, Communist Party of India National Executive Member and the CPI's Chhattisgarh State Council leader Chittaranjan Baxi today said that his party is committed to take Mr Sahu's mission forward.
"Mr Sahu's historic efforts to form an alternative to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the main opposition Congress, has gained tremendous public support. It will be a real tribute to the departed leader, if his mission is taken forward," Mr Baxi said while condoling the death of Mr Sahu, who passed away on Sunday at a hospital in Mumbai.
"The efforts towards bringing all regional parties onto one platform to constitute a third front have indeed suffered a setback with his sudden demise," the CPI leader said.
Mr Baxi announced that a meeting of the like-minded parties' Core Committee, which was constituted under Mr Sahu's initiative, would be convened soon.
