Antony inaugurates missile integration complex
Defence Minister A K Antony today inaugurated a missile integration complex at the BrahMos Aerospace here with a capacity to produce the world's heaviest supersonic air-to-ground missile.
With this major expansion, the BrahMos unit would have the capacity to produce 12 missiles a year by integrating missile parts from various defence research and development centres in the country. The 2.5-tonne missile would be filled on Sukhoi figters.
After laying the foundation stone for the second phase of expansion of the BrahMos unit here, the Defence Minister regretted that he had no courage to bring new defence unit to Kerala due to lack of support from the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government.
He pointed out that the previous LDF government headed by Mr V S Achuthanandan had extended wholehearted supported to him to bring new defence-related industries in the state.
