ULFA's arms-ammu recovered in Assam-Meghalaya border

Security forces recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition suspected to belong to United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in Karbi Anglong district along Assam-Meghalaya border on Wednesday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Hamren Police and Army's No 1 Gorkha Regiment had launched a search operation at Umrokhuti under Ulukunchi police station in the district along the Assam-Meghalaya border and recovered the arms and ammunition.

"The arms and ammunition were recovered from dense forest," district SP Nityananda Goswami said.

Security forces recovered one AK-47 rifle, one 7.65 mm pistol, one hand grenade, 48 rounds live ammunition of AK-47 rifle, 29 rounds live ammunition of 9 mm pistol, 210 nos detonator, 10 meters safety fuse and 4 general fuses.

Anti-talk faction group of ULFA is active in Kabi Anglong along Assam-Meghalaya border and recently set up two camps at the border area.

Top police and army officials rushed to the border area and launched a search operation to nab the rebels.
