Alert driver prevents train mishap
A train mishap was averted between Kollam and Mayyanad Railway Stations early today due to timely action by the crew members of Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram Express.
According to railway sources, the driver of the train number 16331 Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram Express reduced the speed of the train when he noticed a concrete block on the railway track near Eravipuram at about 0130 hrs.
Though the train ran over the concrete block, which was meant to protect the mud near the railway track, but because of the low speed of the train, a possible train tragedy was averted, the sources said.
Local police, who started investigation, said the possibility of a sabotage could not be ruled out, as it appeared that the block was put on the track intentionally.
