Six kidnappers nabbed, 11-year-old boy rescued
Police have arrested a eight-member inter-state gang of kidnappers, which had abducted a 11-year-old son of a businessman from the city on November seven and demanded a ransom of Rs 20 crore.
The arrested had abducted Lokesh Bharamappa Jogi, son of Bharamappa Jogi, a wealthy contractor and took him to a forest area near Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh where the boy was rescued. The culprits were arrested and boy was handed over safely to his parents.
Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patil said in a release today that the gang members were tracked to Chittur in Andhra Pradesh and were nabbed in that town.
A thorough search was launched by four teams specially constituted after the boy was taken away. They were caught after they called the boy's parents through mobile demanding the ransom.
The call was received from Kallurmandal forest area near Chittoor and the culprits were arrested, the SP said.
The arrested were identified as T Hemachandra, P Ravi, Muruvapalli, G Shrinivasulu, Narashimha Murthy, Naveenkumar, Shidhalinga and Mahadev Mugali were arrested, while two others Badshah (driver) and Manoj escaped.
