The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday said Indian pacer Ishant Sharma, who is suffering from viral fever, is likely to become fit for the first Test match against England.
The BCCI said Bengal pacer Ashok Dinda has been asked to join the Indian side as a standby.
"Ishant Sharma has got viral fever. He is expected to be fit for the first Test between India and England, which is to begin in Ahmedabad on Thursday, 15 November 2012," BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale said in a statement.
"However, Ashok Dinda has been told to fly to Ahmedabad as a standby," he said.
According to reports, Sharma skipped practice session on Tuesday.
