Diwali celebrates with fervor, gaiety in Himachal Pradesh
The Festival of Diwali was being celebrated with fervor and gaiety in the state as reports of celebration were coming from different part of state.
Also known as 'Deepawali' it is festival of lights being celebrated to remember retrun of Lord Rama from the 14 years of exile to his Kingdowm Ayodhaya after killing Demon Ravan, Kumbhkaran and Meghnatha and freeing his wife Sita from their clutches. The subject of Ayodhaya welcome this return of Ram lightening their houses with lamps and distributing sweets to their neioubours.
The festival being celebarated for thousands of years with equal zenth also considered auspcious as Sita who was considered incarnation of Goddess Laxmi offerred food to entire royal Ayodhaya family. Therefore People also worship the Goddess Laxmi considered auscpicius and sign of prosperity.
After harvesting Kharif Crop in the country farmer offer new seed grains and cereals to the lord Laxmi who was also considere the Goddess of wealth in the Indian myothology.
With the passing of time traditional celebration of festival is loosing its relevance. Once the downtroden was being inculded in the celebrations keeping them the soecity . Number of them had enaged in the petty profession like making of claylamps and other profession have been replaced by the candle light and Chinease light emitting devices.
Small enternpernours in the villages was once offered sweet. free food, grains and Desi Ghee by the farmers were now no more visit to the host as changing lifestyle have burried the age old tradition in the past.
State of Himachal Pradesh comprising of 90 percent Hindu considered Festival of light the main celebration in the year.
