A few days after launching free generic drug scheme in five medical colleges, the Kerala government today announced plan to extend the facility to primary healch centres too in the State.
Talking to reporters after laying foundation stone for students' hostel at the Kozhikode Medical College, Health Minister V S Shiv Kumar said the scheme would be implemented in all the PHC in the state in a phased manner.
The government had recently directed five MCHs and general hospitals in Thiruvanthapuram, Ernaulam and Kozhikode to disburse 952 varieties of generic drugs free of cost to patients irrespective BPL or APL category.
