All India MIM president and Lok Sabha member Asaduddin Owaisi today criticised Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, saying he is indulging in 'divide and rule' policy 'to save his own skin' when the Old City was reeling under communal tension.
Addressing a press conference to announce the MIM's decision to withdraw support to the ruling Congress in the state, Mr Owaisi said amidst tense situation in the walled city, he had received startling SMS messages and calls on his mobile phone.
He claimed one Congress leader had called him on the mobile alleging that the two city ministers should be blamed for the troubles in the old city and not the chief minister.
'Another congress leader calls me up to declare that the two city ministers should not be held responsible and it is the police personnel for all the problems being witnessed in the old city', he alleged and added that this is how the state of affairs is prevailing under the Chief Ministership of Mr Reddy.
