Kerala government proposed to upgrade the cancer wing at the Kozhikode Medical College as Territory Cancer Centre soon, Health Minister V S Sivakumar said today.
Talking to reporters after laying the foundation stone for a students' hostel here, he said a project report to this affect has already been submitted to the Centre for its nod.
He said the cell would acquire a gama camera worth Rs 4.5 crore out of Rs 6 crore allocated by the government.
The government also proposed to install 30 more dialysis equipments in the MCH with support from Kozhikode district panchayat.
To overcome the shotage of medical and paramedical staff in the five medical colleges in the state, he said 210 more doctors and nurses would be appointed.
Work on the six medical colleges in different districts would start soon, he added.
