Nagaland rebel outfit bans firecrackers in Diwali
Insurgent group NSCN (I-M) has banned the sale and use of firecrackers during the Diwali, Christmas and New Year celebrations in and around Dimapur.
In a release, NSCN-IM said all business establishments in Dimapur had been directed not to sell any explosive fireworks during these celebrations. It also warned public not to use them in any manner.
It said violation of this directive would be taken seriously.
Ministry of kilo affairs said that the decision was taken after considering the prevalent 'insecure atmosphere' in Dimapur and the fear that some anti-social elements might take advantage of the 'noisy atmosphere' and even 'rob them' during the festivals.
