MIM withdraws support to Andhra Pradesh Govt, UPA
The Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) today decided to withdraw the support to the Congress Government here and the UPA Government at the Centre.
Addressing a press conference at party headquarters in Darussalam here, MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi said, "We are compelled to take the decision of withdrawing the support to the Congress government at the party's executive level meeting held till midnight last night due to communal behaviour of Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy for his indecisiveness, dilly dallying attitude and supporting the Sangh Parivar activists.
The MIM has seven members in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and a lone MP in the Lok Sabha.
Even though the MIM has withdrawn support, the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government has no threat as it enjoys the majority of 155 members in the 294 house and is also supported by an independent.
However, the figure may come down to 153 (magic figure is 148) if the Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar accepts the resignations submitted to him by Congress MLAs from Eluru, Bobilli, Chintalapudi after crossing over to YSR Congress Party.
