Minimum at minus 10 degrees in Leh: Met Department
The mercury was at minus 10 degrees in Leh last night, a Met department spokesman said.
The weather will be mainly dry over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours, he said.
There would be no large change during subsequent two days, he said.
In border town of Kargil on Srinagar-Leh national highway, against yesterday's minimum temperature of minus 4.4 degree it was minus 4 degree.
Srinagar also recorded one degree below normal minimum temperature.
Because of dry and cold weather, people, mostly elders and children, are suffering from cold-related diseases including cough, chest pain, bad cold and headache.
Long queues of patients could be seen outside the medical shops and clinics.
At famed health resort of Pahalgam the minimum was minus 2.4 degree, about two degree below normal.
World famous ski resort of Gulmarg, where the slopes still await heavy snowfall, recorded minus two degree minimum temperature.
The minimum dipped to minus 1.2 degree, three degrees below normal, at the gateway of Kashmir, Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu highway.
Elsewhere in the valley, the minimum remained below normal.
