Leaders extend diwali greetings

Tamil Nadu Governor Dr K Rosaiah, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and leaders of various political parties today greeted the people of the State on the eve of the festival of lights--Diwali.

In his greetings, Dr Rosaiah said, "on the joyous occasion of Diwali, I extend my heartiest greetings and good wishes to the people of Tamil Nadu and to those living in elsewhere in the country." "May the 'festival of lights' illuminate in us more brilliance, bring in progress and prosperity, wipe out the darkness of ignorance, ignite the spirit of unity and dedication in our mission to take our nation to greater heights," Dr Rosaiah said in a spokesman.

Ms Jayalalithaa, in her message, said, "On this Diwali day,let the people be bestowed the blessings of God. On this day, I wish my heartiest Deepavali greetings." DMDK founder and leader of the Opposition Vijayakanth, TNCC President B S Gnanadesikan, BJP state unit President Pon Radhakrishnan and leaders of other parties also extended their greetings to the people on the occasion.
