Reacting to the allegation by senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader MG Vaidya that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was behind the campaign against BJP president Nitin Gadkari, Congress leader and Union Minister of State (Independent charge) Manish Tewari said that the statement showed that the BJP is not independent of the RSS as claimed by the party.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Tewari said,'we don't want to comment on its as it is the internal matter of the BJP.
'However, the statement by the BJP has made it clear that the BJP is not independent of the RSS. If the two were independent, the RSS would not have bothered about the BJP.' In a posting on his blog yesterday, Mr Vaidya said,'when Ram Jethmalani (BJP MP) demanded that Gadkari resign immediately, he also said Mr Modi should be made prime ministerial candidate of the party. This raises suspicion that centre of anti-Gadkari campaign is in Gujarat. And if it is said Gujarat, then the fingers will be raised at Narendra Modi only.'
