Minister exhorts people to avoid firecrackers on Diwali
Haryana Environment Minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav has exhorted the people of the state to avoid firecrackers and celebrate a pollution free Diwali.
The Minister greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Diwali and wished that the festival of lights might bring peace, prosperity and happiness in their lives.
Urging the people, especially the children to avoid fire crackers, he said, "instead of spending money on firecracker, we should help the poor and the needy" and added that the firecrackers not only caused air pollution but could also result in deafness, blindness and fire accidents.
"Dangerous chemicals used in the manufacture of crackers adversely effect our health and cause problem in breathing and might cause ailments concerning kidneys and nervous system. Various mental disorders could also occur due to these harmful chemicals", he said.
He said that if the children intended to burst firecrackers, they should use eco-friendly crackers which generate less noise and pollution. The children should burst crackers under the supervision of their parents, the minister added.
