Modi behind anti-Gadkari campaign: RSS member
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) member M.G. Vaidya has accused Narendra Modi of being behind the ongoing anti-Gadkari campaign.
"The roots of the campaign against Nitin Gadkari have to be in Gujarat because when Ram Jethmalani demanded Gadkari's resignation, he also demanded that Narendra Modi be made the prime ministerial candidate of the party," Vaidya said in his blog.
The RSS ideologue said though L.K. Advani and Gadkari had publicly said that they did not have prime ministerial ambitions, Modi had never said so. He also said it was too early to discuss on BJP's 2014 PM candidate.
"Narendra Modi might have felt that Gadkari as BJP president would hamper his chances of becoming the Prime Minster. He is using Jethmalani to fulfil his plans," Vaidya reportedly wrote in Marathi.
However, a report quoting an official RSS spokesperson said the views expressed by Vaidya in his blog were his personal view and not that of the Sangh.
