Security beefed up in Pondy in view of Deepavali
Security has been tightened in the Union Territory in view of Deepavali festival.
A police team headed by Superintendent of Police (North) Ramaraju conducted an inspection at the new bus stand area where a large number of tourists alighted because of the festival season.
Bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs were also pressed into service during the search. The belongings of the passengers were also checked. Security has been tightened at several places in the town.
Meanwhile, serveillance cameras at eight places in the town were also commissioned today.
