TDP slams Union Home Minister's statement over Telangana

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today criticised Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde for stating that he had no knowledge of the letter written by TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu demanding all party meeting on the separate Telangana statehood issue.

Talking to reporters here, former Minister and TDP Politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said Mr Shinde's 'statement exposed his ignorance and lack of seriousness over the sensitive issue of Telangana.' He claimed that the letter was sent to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in September and an acknowledgement with the Prime Minister's signature had also been received by the TDP.

Expressing ignorance about Naidu's letter, Mr Shinde tried to give an impression that the Prime Minister was different from the Central Government, he said.

Mr Shinde, being the Home Minister, should have received the letter from the PMO as the subject was related to him, he added.
