In view of the coming Diwali festival, Kolkata Metro Railway has undertaken a public awareness campaign against carrying of inflammable articles in the underground railway.
"Commuters are requested not to carry any inflammable articles, specially fire works, crackers, kerosene and petrol in any metro station, platforms and train compartments which might pose any danger to the lives of the commuters and properties of Metro," Deputy General Manger, publicity, Pratuysh Ghosh here today said.
He said anyone found carrying inflammable articles would be punished under various sections of the Railway Act, 1989.
In case, any inflammable article was noticed within the metro rail compound, commuters are requested to inform immediately to the on-duty station staff or the RPF personnel, Mr Ghosh said.
