Committee expresses satisfation over security measures in Tirumala
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs today expressed satisfaction on the steps being taken by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) towards providing security to the world famous Venkateswara Temple.
The committee met at Swethabhavan here and discussed the security apparatus being taken by the TTD on the seven hills.
Talking to newspersons later, Committee Chairman and senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said the TTD had informed that they required security staff in large numbers to provide high security in Tirumala which was on the hit list of terrorist groups.
He said the meeting also discussed the TTD plea to provide AK-47 rifles to the police personnel when they were on duty.
It also discussed the situation if any one entered the temple with explosive materials, Mr Naidu said.
NDA Working Chairman L K Advani, who is on a two-day visit to this temple town, also participated in the meeting.
