Several Congress leaders, including Opposition Leader in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and Council Siddaramaiah and S R Patil respectively, KPCC President Dr G Parameshwar were taken into preventive custody while they were trying to march towards 'Krishna', the official residence of Chief Minister here today.
The Leaders were participating in a protest rally from Freedom Park to CM's residence organised by Youth Congress demanding that ruling BJP 'either function or quit'. They were taken into custody when they tried to march, removing barricade put up by police.
Addressing party workers, Mr Siddaramaiah said "the BJP Government has no moral right to continue, as it had failed in every area of development. Since 2008 after BJP came to power, the State has seen three Chief ministers due to internal bickering in that party. Now after former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa is marching ahead to form new party, the ruling party is facing threat of split and developmental works have come to a standstill".
Dr Parameshwar said the Government has faltered with respect to mining, land and water issues. Karnataka, which was known for good reasons, has been turned into a state known for corruption and nepotism.
Mr S R Patil said, "it is better if this non-performing government is removed at the earliest."
