South Eastern Railway has additional income during festive season
South Eastern Railway has earned an additional revenue of Rs 2.66 crore by running 54 special trains and augmenting over 590 coaches during the festive season last month.
The railway had earned Rs 9.7 million by running special trains and from augmentation of coaches the earning reached upto the tune of Rs 1.69 crore, SER sources here today informed.
Claiming that SER had performed 'creditably' in managing the extra rush of passengers during the peak holiday and festive seasons, the sources said during the period, all 54 pairs of special trains had made a total of 108 trips to eleven different destinations to and from Howrah and Sealdah stations.
As many as 591 additional coaches also ran with various long distance express and mail trains during last month, they said.
In view of the coming Diwali and Chhat festivals almost all the special trains will continue their journey to different cities and tourist spots during the current month also to meet the passenger rush, the sources added.
Meanwhile, there was no report of any untoward incident in any of these trains as proper security arrangements were made in all the special trains and additional coaches, the sources claimed.
