CPI (M) stages dharna in Kannur
District unit of CPI(M) organised a collectorate dharna today to protest against the filing of cases against Kannur MP K Sudhakaran under weak sections in connection with the Valapatnam police station issue.
CPI(M) district secretary P Jayarajan inaugurated the dharna and alleged that in Kannur district, Sudhakaran was controlling the home department.
CPI(M) MLAs K K Narayanan, James Mathew, T V Rajesh, T Krishnan, district panchayat president K A Sarla and other local body representatives attended the agitation.
Mr Jayarajan also alleged that the Congress and IUML were controlling the sand mafia and enough sand would be received in Kannur if some of the leaders of these parties were contacted.
The home minister has said actions would be taken against the accused without looking the political face in Valapatnam issue on October 31, but the action was taken against the Sub inspector only, this creates the suspicion that whether Sudhakaran or Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan is controlling the home department, Mr Jayarajan said.
CPI(M) demanded that police should register case against Mr Sudhakaran for obstructing police official and allegedly threatening Sub inspector B K Siju on October 31, demanding to release sand mafia activists and youth congress leader.
