A delegation of Shiv Sena legislators, led by senior leader and MLC Diwakar Raote, today met Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan at Raj Bhavan here.
The delegation urged the Governor to look into a scam of Rs 6,000 crore in various development schemes implemented by the Department of Tribal Development since last three years, which has come to light due to a petition filed before the Bombay High Court.
The delegation alleged corruption in the purchase of various items like uniforms, slates, mats, blankets, nutritious food and liquid protein for Ashram schools in the state and urged the Governor to take appropriate action, an official release here today said.
The delegation also informed the Governor that a report presented by a Committee appointed by the Supreme Court has found that the food supplied to the Anganwadi children is of inferior quality. Further, the report mentions financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore.
Dr Deepak Sawant, Dr Neelam Gorhe, Vinod Ghosalkar and Bala Sawant were present at the meeting, the release added.
