Andhra Pradesh Major Industries Minister Dr J Geeta Reddy today indicated that the state government will soon come up with an exclusive Industrial Policy for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe.
Participating at a workshop on 'Affirmative Action and Supplier Diversity', organised by Confederation of Indian Industry Andhra Pradesh, in association with Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) here, she said Andhra Pradesh the Government would soon come up with a legislation on SC/ST Sub Plan, which would be passed in a special Assembly Session.
Dr Reddy appreciated the efforts of CII and DICCI in the process of Affirmative Action and uplifting and encouraging dalits in the business activities.
"Inclusive growth is the need of the hour and in this regard I strongly appreciate the Central Government's decision to reserve 4 per cent of procurement for SC and ST's out of 20 per cent reserved for SMEs," she said.
The Minister also talked about various initiatives of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to strengthen the Dalit participation in the business process.
She elaborated on the initiatives like Credit Guarantee Trust, Pavala Vaddi Scheme, Joint Ventures Projects among SC and ST's, preferential treatment for SC and ST's, besides others.
