Azhar should be given chance to play his 100th test: Hussain
Welcoming the Andhra Pradesh High Court's verdict removing life ban on former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, Congress MLC Farooq Hussain today demanded that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should allow Azhar to play at least one more test match.
Talking to reporters here on the High Court's ruling, Mr Hussain said in view of the verdict, the BCCI should allow Azhar to complete his 100th Test match by selecting him.
He said the High Court's verdict has come as a 'major relief' to lakhs of Azhar's fans who have been 'waiting for this day'.
The MLC said the 'Congress party always believed that Azhar was innocent' and that was the reason, he was given ticket from Moradabad Lok Sabha constituency in the 2009 elections.
He said in view of the Court's judgment, the party should further promote him.
