Gangta leads HP to 260/8 against Karnataka in Nayudu trophy

Middle order batsman N R G Gangta struck a solid unbeaten 117 to lead Himachal Pradesh to a satisfactory 260 for 8 in the first innings against Karnataka on the opening day of the four-day C K Nayudu Trophy tie played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium here today.

Gangta dominated the 100-run stand for the fourth wicket with A K Kaushik (39) after the visitors, put into bat first by Karnataka skipper Karun Nair, had lost three wickets for 81 in the morning.

Defying the hosts bowling, Gangta struck 17 boundaries in his fighting unfinished 191-ball innings.

Medium Pacer H S Sharat struck late blows to take 3/59 to return as the most successful bowler for Karnataka, while K Gowtham took 2/84.
