Jaya orders police action against perpetrators of group clash

The Tamil Nadu government today announced a relief of Rs 50,000 to each of the families who had lost their belongings including their house in the clash that ensured between two groups yesterday over an inter-caste marriage belonging to two villages in Dharmapuri district.

The inter-caste marriage took place last month Naykankottai village. In a statement here tonight, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said she said police had rushed to the scene of the clash and made necessary security arrangements.

She said she has also ordered the police to initiate stringent action against those responsible for the clash.
