The Akila Bharathiya Thuraviyar (Saints) Sangam will approach the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the union government to initiate speedy measures for linking the major rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, Brahmaputhra,Mahanathi, Godavari and Krishna with Cauvery to solve Tamil Nadu's water shortage problem, especially among Cauvery Delta Farmers.
Sanagam President Swami Ramanad of Dharmapuri, in a statement here today,said the decision was taken based on a plea made by P Ayyakannu, State Vice-President of Bharathiya Kisan Sangam (BKS).
He said no politician from Tamil Nadu was concerned bout the plight of the delta farmers, hence the initative.
He would seek the support of other religious heads and like minded organisations in this regard.
