Kerala Labour Minister Shibu Babyjohn today welfare benefits to workers in the state would be distributed through banks from April one next year.
Inaugurating shops and commercial establishments benefits here, he said the government would coordinate all small welfare boards and bring them under one office.
While doing so, the government could be able save a huge amount from administrative expenses and the amount would be utilized for providing more benefits to the workers, he said adding that ineligible people were taking away the benefits from the genuine beneficiaries.
The decision to introduce banking service for distributing benefits to the workers was to avoid middle men, he said adding that those who have not possessed Adhar card, the scheme would be implemented through smart card.
He said the government had also decided to construct special block in all district hospitals for migrant labours in the state.
