Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee Minority Department today urged the state government to constitute a Minority Commission and Minority Finance Development Corporation(MFDC)in the state for the welfare of the Miniority communities.

Talking to reporters here, Minority Department chairman K K Kochumohammed said that though the Delhi government had constituted the Minority Commission in 1999, even after 12 years, the state government had miserably failed to constitute the same in the state.

Pointing out that majority of the states in the country had constituted a Finance Development Corporation as agency of the National Development Finance Corporation, to execute their projects for minority communities, he said since the state government failed to constitute such a corporation the projects received from the centre were now being executed through backward corporations, which ultimately failed to utitlise the allocated fund in time.

Alleging that attitude of the Indian Union Muslim League,a constituent of the UDF Government, which hold the Miniority Department, was quite suspicious, he warned that if the situation continued, the Minority Department would organize various agitations.
