Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today disagreed with the statement of CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan that treasure trove in the world famous Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple was the property of the nation.
Addressing a press conference here,he said the treasure was the property of the temple and it should remain with it and be preserved there.
"The Royal Family of erstwhile Travancore had preserved it for centuries when there was no democracy and media to monitor and this clearly shows their sanctity. The statements against them by the CPM leaders should have been avoided," he said.
He also disagreed with the statement by Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan that the amicus curiae was trying to protect the interest of one of the parties to the dispute.
