Congress brainstorming session at Surajkund begins
Congress leaders have started deliberating on the current political and economic situation of the country at the party's day-long brainstorming session at Surajkund today.
Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi took a special bus from party headquarters at 24, Akbar Road, in the morning to reach Surajkund where the deliberations is taking place.
Congress Spokesperson Janardhan Dwivedi had earlier told media that apart from economic and political situation, implementation of the party manifesto will be reviewed in the day-long meeting.
Dwivedi further said Sonia Gandhi's opening remarks about the current political situation will form the basis of the first debate.
"Thereafter, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will address the meeting on the economic challenges facing the country," he said, adding that while Finance Minister P. Chidambaram will initiate the debate on the economic challenges after the PM's address, any leader wishing to speak on political issues will be allowed to do so during the meeting itself.
The third and last item on the agenda of the meet will be a performance review of the party's 2009 manifesto and a roadmap for the future, he said, adding that the session will end with the party chief's remarks.
