Syndicate Bank, the lead bank in Kannur and Kasargod districts, is planning to open six more branches in Kannur region before January 31, 2013.
Addressing a press conference here, Bank Executive Director M Anjaneya Prasad said the branches would be opened at Kannur, Kasargod, Wynad, Kozhikode districts and Mahe in Puducherry.
He said the bank had 2,738 branches and ATMs all over the country, and the plan of the bank was to increase the outlets to 5,000, including the services of ATMs.
He said Syndicate Bank was selected as one of the best performing banks in the country in a meeting held at Mumbai, yesterday.
He said in Kannur region the advance of the bank was Rs 2,500 crore while the deposit was Rs 1,500 crore.
Mr Anjaneyan said the global business had improved to Rs 2,84,649 crore from Rs 2,55,286 crore, showing a growth rate of 11.50 per cent and the domestic business in savings had increased by 10.89 per cent to Rs 36,125 crore.
