Amicus curiae Gopal Subramaniam, who submitted a report to the Supreme Court recently over the maintenance of Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple, has prepared the report in favour of Travancore Royal Family, CPI(M) Kerala Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan alleged today.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the amicus curiae has acted as a loyal follower of the royal family and his report to the apex court was aimed at handing over the huge temple treasure and its administration to the royal family.

Suggesting the Government to take over the wealth including offerings by the devotees and also the precious items which were seized when the erstwhile kings of Travancore took over smaller kingdoms here, he urged the Government to hold an all party meeting to discuss the issue.

Hoping that the Supreme Court would consider all these facts while announcing its verdict in the coming days, he said there should be an administrative system in the temple as in the case of Guruvayoor Sree Krishna temple.

The royal family should admit the social change happened in the State after the Independence, he added.

After receiving the amicus curiae's 93-page report , the SC ordered that under ground vaults be strengthened. His 87 suggestions also stressed for improving maintenance, strengthening the vaults, continuance of religious rituals as per Agama sastras.

However, a Committee appointed by the SC is doing the stock taking of the treasures kept at the underground vaults of the temple.
