Coir Board Chairman Prof G Balachandran today said the board has decided to provide employment training to 20,000 people in the state and management skill training to those people who had taken loan from the board.
Addressing a press conference after a meeting of voluntary organizations of Kannur and Kasargod district at town bank auditorium, Mr Balachandran said the Coir Board was planning to lauch a new brand 'Janatha coir authorized mattress' at the rate of Rs 800 per mattress.
Presently coir mattress was available at a rate that varies between Rs 5,000 and Rs 50,000 which was not affordable for common people, he added.
He said a meeting between plywood manufacturers and coir board was held to discuss use of coir as raw material in making plywoods.
