Naxal-affected villages in Jharkhand benefit from PMGSY
Singhbum (Jharkhand), Nov. 8 (ANI)
The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana has come as a boon for villagers in Jharkhand's naxal-affected Singhbum district.
The network of newly constructed roads has largely enhanced connectivity in these areas, particularly that of Musabani, Dumria Gudabanda and Jiyan.
"The roads are much better now. Earlier it was difficult to commute from one place to another. Now we have good roads and everything is fine," said Mirza, a local resident of Dumria.
Earlier, despite government efforts, private contractors were not willing to take up any project as they feared Naxal attacks.
The government agencies then constructed the roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to bring overall development to the area.
"This is a Naxal-affected area. Hence construction of roads under PM road scheme has not only benefited the people, but it also beneficial when authorities want to take quick action," said Dr. Bablu Sundhi, a resident of Kata Sola.
Over the years Naxals have been hampering development work in rural areas by threatening people and extorting money from contractors.
However, with efforts made by the central government at various levels, not only have the people overcome their fear of Naxals but also there has been a positive change and development in these areas over a period of time.
